Recently I photographed the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
This wasn’t a commission, I didn’t have access to the interior, control of the site, site plans - basically I didn’t have any of the things architectural photographers are used to working with and use to plan for projects. Instead, I made my own.
My first night in town, I stopped by Disney. I took a few photographs but really I began sketching the framework of a site plan. I continued to scribble as I enjoyed a nice dinner in an old firehouse downtown.
My initial sketch - not pretty.
Second draft, used on location. Much better.
And here is one of the final images.
