The first day is always a bit of a challenge. We landed at 5am Icelandic time. Flight via Wow Air was all well and good, we got our car and headed into Reykjavik for food and supplies. Of course nothing is really open at 7am so we meandered around town for a bit. Luckily we found a bakery for breakfast, which was quite good.
Perhaps to our determent, for whatever reason, if I'm not staying in Reykjavik for the entire day, then I all want to do is leave the city as fast as possible. Twice now, I've done this is and it's of highly suspect logic. Thus we hit the road, following my previous footsteps which allowed me to be a bit of a tour guide as Chelsea got her first experience of the country.
We then rode horses for a couple of hours, ate and drank with some locals, and visited Gullfoss long past the sun had set. All in all, pretty good first day. Tomorrow, we're headed in to the highlands with my friends at South Iceland Adventures. Should be good. Now, sleep.
