Commissioned last year by MKSK to photograph the new park at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. Delayed by horrible and damaging storms that hit Columbus last summer, I was very excited to finally get to it.
I was asked to capture the big picture as well as some of the smaller activity zones both from on the ground and an elevated viewpoint. Big picture, we wanted to connect the park to the hospital, and the hospital to the city. We accomplished this using a 40 foot articulating boom lift, allowing me not only to gain the needed height but also to swing to the exact angle I wanted. The lift also provided the flexibility we required for many other photographs.
To fully tell the story of the project we needed to have people in our photographs. We invited a TON of people. Thankfully many of them showed up. We used a mixture of models; friends, other architects, anyone with kids, and we used some people that were already on location.
All in all, everyone worked really hard to organize a lot of moving pieces before we even took a single photograph, and our models were terrific. I'm very proud of the work.
